Your experience

Malmö is connected to Copenhagen by the Ôresund Bridge. A direct eye-catcher is the newly built Wolkenkrazer Turning Torso, which attracts many visitors to this city.

Turning Torso became the landmark of Malmö shortly after its construction. Torsoen is a 190-metre high residential building designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatravas. (By comparison, the town hall tower in Copenhagen is only 100 metres high). The building consists of nine cubes with a total of 54 floors and 147 apartments, which rotate at up to 90 degrees from the foundations to the top. On the 53rd and 54th floors are the very special conference rooms, as they offer an impressive view up to 80 km in each direction.

Malmö's Westhafen district is located on the coast of Oresund and was rebuilt in an area where the legendary Kockum shipyard once stood. Through cooperation with internationally renowned urban developers and architects, the district has been transformed into a perfect example of a sustainable residential and business district.

The large artificial island that now makes up Malmö's new district is a mixture of modern urban planning and architecture down to the smallest detail. But above all it is a district full of life.

In 2001, the Bo01 housing fair took place, which gave the starting signal for this new district. Thus, thousands of people have moved to Westhafen over the past few years. You will experience a varied and eventful cityscape, but also a unique maritime atmosphere created by exceptional architecture. With the residential and office buildings, the university with 20,000 students and all the other details, Westhafen has become a completely new city in the city of Malmö

The Øresund link is a 16 km long connection between Malmö and Copenhagen, both above and below Øresund. It consists of a bridge, the so-called Öresund Bridge, the Drogden Tunnel and the artificial island Peberholm.

We start our tour from the Town Hall Square in Copenhagen and then drive towards Amager Strandpark and past the new Amager Strandpark. Then we pass the Blue Planet and cross the Öresund Bridge, from where we have a breathtaking view of the Öresund, Copenhagen and Malmö. Afterwards we drive through historical Malmö to Westhafen, where we park our bus. There our walk along the new beautifully arranged beach promenade begins.

There you will have the opportunity to admire the new architecture and see the Turning Torso up close. On the way we have the opportunity to enjoy our lunch in one of the many good gastronomic establishments before we take the bus back home to Copenhagen's Town Hall Square.

We had a very friendly and lovable guide who accompanied us for 6 hours through Malmö, first through the old town, then through the Westhafen, and finally to the Turning Torso. Unfortunately, we didn't have a good leader in him. He was well-read, and a contemporary interested in many things. But he has little specific knowledge as a city guide in Malmö. In Saint Peter he did not know the merchant chapel, he did not know how to say anything to the altar. He's never been to the Turning Torso before. His historical remarks got stuck between 1658 and 1660. He probably worked in architecture or civil engineering, but architecture-specific designs (materials, forms, construction methods, historical developments, urban planning) were hardly an issue during the tour. He speaks German acceptably well, but again not in such a way that you want to listen to him for six hours.

I write this in such detail because the tour - a whole day long, for a lot of money - was expected by all of us with much anticipation. We had also made the decision together: Yeah, we'll do that.

There has always been a topic of conversation - but there was no specific knowledge that a guide could convey to his listeners in a targeted manner, with a high density of information, well structured and skilfully on a challenging tour of the city.

We do not want the Lord to be evil, but he should know that a demanding leadership also places higher demands on him than he can fulfil.
