Description

Join our sightseeing tour through the communities of Mexico City. Enjoy this colorful journey while visiting the famous Casa Azul (The Blue House) and take the chance to see some of the masterpieces of the Mexican painter Frida Kahlo. You will be impressed by the amazing architecture of the university. The main protagonists of our adventure are the colonized municipality of Coyoacán and the beautiful Xochimilco, also called the Place of Flowers, which will bring you unforgettable memories

First you will visit Coyoacán, which translated means "place of those who have coyotes". Let us tell you something about the fascinating history of the district from the time when it was one of the first colonial settlements. The area has changed over time, for example through volcanic eruptions and human inventions. Feel the unconventional atmosphere that makes Coyoacán different from the rest of Mexico City

The community is also known for its culture and intellect. It attracts both local and foreign artists and provides them with inspiration. Several important institutions, such as the National Arts Center, the National School of Music, the National School of Restoration and Ciudad University have their headquarters in Coyoacán. You will visit the university and learn about the fantastic and varied architecture of the buildings. The university was declared a UNESCO cultural heritage site in 2007

Furthermore, your guide will take you to the Jardín Hidalgo in the centre of Coyoacán and answer all your questions about the historical background of the streets and buildings. Discover different activities typical of Mexico or try local specialties at one of the street stalls. This is followed by a visit to the museum La Casa Azul - the Frida Kahlo Museum. Here you are offered to discover the individual rooms and enter the world of Frida Kahlo in an exhibition of her paintings and personal belongings

The second part of the tour takes you south, to one of Frida Kahlo's favourite places: Xochimilco. As you travel back in time, you will learn more about the valley that was once a lake. Today locals and foreigners meet there to relax in this "place of flowers". Enjoy a one hour punt (boat trip) through the canals and discover the famous Chinampas, also known as the floating gardens. During the ride you can try various dishes and drinks while Mexican music is played.

Experience an unforgettable journey and follow your personal guide through the beautiful communities as you learn more about their history
