Comfortable journey from the port of Civitavecchia to Rome
Get to see the highlights of Rome in just one day, including Castel Sant'Angelo, St Peter's Basilica, Circus Maximus, Trevi Fountain and Pantheon.
Get the most out of your short stay in Rome
From January 1st, 2019, the Municipality of Rome decided to take an important step forward to protect the historical heritage and the ecology of the city.
Only taxis and local buses are now allowed in the city center.
This amazing full day tour will guide you through the world-famous streets of Rome. Enter the smallest but yet the most notorious independent state of the world, The Vatican City. Go on a breath-taking panoramic tour along the river Tiber, the Colosseum and the Circus Maximus and see the wonderful promenade from Venice Square, where the Altar of the Fatherland stands, the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon and Navona Square.
Our excursion starts from Civitavecchia around 9:30 AM. The bus ride takes approximately 1 hour and will stop near the Tiber in Via Lungotevere Marzio “Zanardelli”, across Ponte Umberto I Bridge situated right in front of the Justice Palace, also called “Palazzaccio”.
Your tour guide will lead you to the bottom of Castel Sant'Angelo. Stroll along the streets and enjoy the music of the street performers whilst looking at the beautiful sight of Via della Conciliazione, which leads to St. Peters Square.
During the panoramic bus ride your tour guide will narrate you the history of Rome. Admire many historic monuments such as the Pyramid of Cestius, the Gaius Cestious’ tomb incorporated in the fortifications of the city and the second largest Roman baths called Baths of Caracalla.
Furthermore witness the Papal Archbasilica of St. John in Lateran and the Basilica of Saint Mary Major. Continue the ride on the bus towards the Colosseum, the largest Amphitheater ever built and the symbol of Rome, the Circus Maximus the ancient Roman chariot racing situated in the call of the Aventine and the Palatine Hill. You will pass in the Mouth of Truth, which attracts many visitors each day who want to put their hand in the marble mask, in order to find something out about their future.
At the end of this amazing panoramic ride, you will stop in Via Petroselli, near the Theatre of Marcellus. Start the incredible walking tour with your tour guide. Witness the famous Theater of Marcellus, situated in the center of Castel Sant'Angelo where 20,000 spectators could see typical performances of drama and song.
See the Capitoline Hill and the beautiful Cordonata that leads to Piazza del Campidoglio where the Capitol of the city stands. Another stop will be at the Venice Square. Be amazed by the Altar of the Fatherland, built in honor of Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of a unified Italy and look at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and its eternal flame, built under the statue of goddess Roma after the World War I.
Next stop is the Trajan's Forum, which is the last of the Imperial Fora to be constructed during the ancient Rome after the conquest of Dacia by the will of the Emperor. Continue the walking tour with your tour guide, in order to see the most marvelous Baroque fountain in the world, the Trevi-Fountain. Once arrived at the Trevi-Fountain, you will have free time for lunch and to stroll around the promenade in the quaint streets of the city centre up to the Pantheon, the amazing Roman Temple. Admire the Fountain of the Four Rivers with the Egyptian obelisk in its center and the two other fountains, the Moor Fountain at the southern end and the Fountain of Neptune at the northern end.

Sehr geehrte Frau Sabrina,
Mif freundlichem Gruss,
Civitatours Team Civitavecchia
