Very good excursion for 1/3 of the price of AIDA. Free shuttle from the port to the meeting point. German guide boarded in Rome. 1 1/2 h St. Peter's Cathedral, followed by a panoramic drive and a walk to the Trevi Fountain. Afterwards two hours of free time. For the price perfect package for people who know Rome.

The tour was great. Unfortunately I don't know the name of our guide anymore, an older gentleman, who however hit a rapid pace, so that some older gentlemen of us didn't come any more with us. He just didn't react to some questions, maybe he just didn't understand me. Otherwise he had explained everything well and we also saw a lot. But on the whole, we were satisfied.

Your experience

Highlights

  • Take advantage of the stress-free journey from the port of Civitavecchia to Rome
  • See the highlights of Rome in just one day, including the Castel Sant'Angelo, St. Peter's Basilica, Circus Maximus, the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon
  • Get the most out of your short stay in Rome

Description

Departure from the port of Civitavecchia is at 9.30 am. The bus journey takes place in a comfortable and air-conditioned coach. The journey to Rome takes about 90 minutes and depends on the traffic.

With the Panorama Tour you have a tour guide (usually multilingual) who will welcome you on board of the bus in Civitavecchia or in Rome.

The first bus stop is at St. Peter's Square, the bus stop is at 'Lungotevere Marzio', from here it is a 25 minute walk to St. Peter's Square. Along the Tiber and past the Castel Sant'Angelo, which was originally built almost two thousand years ago as a mausoleum for the Roman Emperor.

Arriving at St. Peter's Square, you can marvel at St. Peter's Basilica - one of the largest and most important churches in the world. During your stay at St. Peter's Square you have the possibility to visit St. Peter's Cathedral, but only with a "fast entry ticket" without queuing. Costs € 22,00 per person. The guided tour takes place with an expert German-speaking guide. After admiring the architectural work in Bernini's St. Peter's Square, you return to the bus that waits for you at the 'Lungotevere Marzio'

Now the Panorama Tour through Rome begins. Listen to the tour guide and go on a journey of discovery. The tour guide will take you through ancient Rome. From St. Peter's the bus goes along the Tiber and you will see the different sights like the Tiber Island, the Pyramid Cestia, (the only one in Europe) the Caracalla Baths (Roman baths), the Lateran Basilica, the Church of St. Mary and the Colosseum. It is one of the new seven wonders of the world and is a testimony to the outstanding architecture of the Romans in ancient times and the symbol of the city of Rome. The tour continues to Monte Aventino, the Circus Maximus, where chariot races were held with about 250,000 spectators.

Second and last bus stop (only exit) is on Via Luigi Petroselli. This is where the city tour of Rome begins. On the way towards the Trevi Fountain - one of the most famous and beautiful fountains in the world - we pass the Marcellus Theatre, Piazza del Campidoglio, Piazza Venezia and the Trajan Forum, which is the last, largest and most splendid of the so-called Imperial Forums.

From here you can now enjoy the Italian flair on your own, go shopping or have a snack and drink.

You have the possibility to visit the Pantheon, which was built on the Mars field to honour different deities. The dome, which forms a perfect semicircle from the inside, has an opening in the middle, the opaion / eye, creating fascinating light effects.

Piazza Navona is one of the most characteristic squares of baroque Rome. This square is unique and atmospheric, not least because of the four-stream fountain and the beautiful church of St. Agnes, in addition to the architectural sights, this square is a meeting place for many street artists.

Your guide will give you all the information about the meeting point and time of departure. At 16.00 / 16.30 it is time to say goodbye to the eternal city of Rome.

On Wednesdays the tour schedule may vary, as the Pope holds an audience. The St. Peter's Square may not be visited until the afternoon.

Please note
