Your experience

  • - Kom Ombo temple complex
  • - Edfu Temple

The Kom Ombo temple, located north of Aswan, is one of the temples from the ancient Egyptian time and has a special feature in contrast to other temple complexes. It is a double temple, because in it two different deities are worshipped separately from each other. On the one hand there is the crocodile god Sobek and on the other hand there is Haroeris, the falcon-headed Horus.

Your tour guide will pick you up at your hotel in Aswan and drive you in an air-conditioned car to the temples, which are located a few kilometers away from the city on the banks of the Nile

Arriving at Kom Ombo Temple, the first thing you notice is the large two-part main entrance, which leads to the different deities. In the right part of the temple the god of fertility, Sobek, also known as the creator of the world, was worshipped and in the left part the god of light and heaven, Haroeris, was worshipped

After you have explored the temple complex with its outbuildings extensively and have come across some wall paintings and carvings, you continue on to Edfu.

Edfu is located about 100 kilometers from Aswan and is an Egyptian city. In the immediate vicinity of the city is also the Edfu temple complex, which is one of the best preserved temples in all of Egypt. The Edfu temple, which is dedicated only to the god Horus, has a length of 137 meters and has many inscriptions and hieroglyphics. The entrance is adorned by two huge statues in the shape of a falcon, as they represent the god Horus.

The temple was also of great importance for Egyptian mythology. There the fight between Horus and the god Seth is said to have taken place. After Seth killed his brother, Osiris, the father of Horus, Horus avenged the murder of his father over several years until he finally managed to kill Seth on the temple grounds.

At the end of the excursion you will be driven by your tour guide back to your hotel in Aswan.
