Very nice and interesting tour

Terrific! We were the only two participants in the German tour and were very happy that it took place anyway. With Christina, a Roman woman with a German dad, we had as our guide an excellent Rome-connoisseur with perfect knowledge of German. She made the three and a half hours exciting and interesting and with many stories she made the history of Rome come alive for us. By the way, we did not have to queue anywhere for longer than 5 minutes, which was possibly also due to the season (beginning of February). My daughter (15) and I were delighted. Thanks a lot, Christina!!!

A city tour could not be better. There were three of us and so the tour was private. Unfortunately I can't remember the name of our guide from South Tyrol, but he did a great job! High praise!! Thanks to his good explanations we could feel and experience the history of the eternal city. THANK YOU. January is perfect for all sightseeing, as there is hardly anything going on and the view is clear.

We were very satisfied with the city tour. We were, as promised, a very small group. Chiara, our city guide spoke very good German, was very responsive to us, answered questions very competently. We have received useful tips

We had a great tour with Stefanie as a very competent and friendly guide. Not only did she give us a good insight at our leisure, but she was also able to answer all our questions in the best possible way. I can recommend this tour without any reservations.

It's a great tour. Only to recommend. The almost 4 hours have passed in a flash. We would do it again and again, not only because of the interesting and very lively information we received, but also because we were spared the several hours of waiting at the ticket counter. Nevertheless, queues are not spared, because guided tours without queues are also channelled through the bottlenecks at the security checkpoints.

Highlights

  • Colosseum and Forum Romanum from the inside with priority access at the ticket office
  • Capitoline Hill, Largo di Torre Argentina, Pantheon from inside, Piazza Navona

Description

On this 3 ½ hour city tour you will walk with your expert guide in the footsteps of the impressive ancient Rome, the entrance fee for the Colosseum and the Forum Romanum is already included! You have a privileged entrance, so you don't have to wait long, because the Colosseum is one of the most visited monuments in the world and a must in Rome.

How did the Romans and the gladiators actually live in the ancient world? Your local guide with a university degree will also tell you this, accompanied by anecdotes that only the inhabitants of Rome can tell.

You experience the Colosseum from the inside, the real symbol of Rome. Built between 69 and 80 AD under Titus and Vespasian, the arena held over 70,000 spectators. Until 404 AD the spectacular gladiator fights took place here

You will cross the Forum Romanum, once the political and social centre of the Roman Empire, on the Via Sacra. South of the Forum rises the Palatine Hill, the oldest settlement site and cradle of Roman civilization. From the Capitoline Hill you have a great view over the Forum Romanum

Also in the breathtaking Pantheon and on the beautiful Navona Square you will get a glimpse of the millennia-old history of the city, passing Largo di Torre Argentina, where Julius Caesar was murdered. In Piazza Venezia you will see the monumental monument to Vittorio Emanuele, simply called "typewriter" by the Romans

This tour takes place in the mornings and afternoons at fixed starting times, which you can see in the calendar, and offers the perfect introduction to better understand the history of this fascinating city. It is ideal for first-time visitors and allows you to orientate yourself better in the old town afterwards.

Please note

Additional information

The entrance to the Colosseum is already included, therefore the tour cannot be combined with tickets from the Omnia Pass or the Roma Pass

For security reasons, large camping rucksacks or suitcases are not allowed in the Colosseum and Antique Forum. Small, medium-sized handbags and small rucksacks are allowed. There's no baggage claim in the Coliseum.

Liquids (such as drinks, sunscreen, insect repellent, etc.) cannot be taken into the Colosseum: You can fill up your empty water bottle at the water fountain in the Coliseum or in the Antique Forum! In summer, it is best to bring a sun hat and of course comfortable shoes.

Unfortunately, the tour is not wheelchair accessible and not suitable for prams. Execution also in rain.

There is a dress code in the Pantheon: knees and shoulders must be covered.
