Your experience

Description

Your private shore excursion starts with a pickup at Phu My or Lotus port, followed by a 2-hour drive to Ho Chi Minh City, enjoying the comfort of an air-conditioned private vehicle. Your full-day tour of Ho Chi Minh City starts with a visit to the Saigon Notre-Dame Basilica. Built between 1877 and 1883, this is one of the best examples of classical French colonial architecture in the city. Remarkably, every stone used in its creation was shipped from France to Vietnam.

Next, you’ll stop at the Saigon Central Post Office, which has been constructed by the famous Gustave Eiffel. Afterwards you’ll admire the extravagant design of the Saigon Opera House as well as the colonial style of the Ho Chi Minh City Hall. You continue to one of the City's most historically interesting buildings. Visit the Reunification Palace, where on April 30th 1975 the American War officially came to an end.

After stopping for lunch at a local restaurant, you’ll head to district 5. Ho Chi Minh City’s historic Chinatown, named Cho Lon or “Big Market” by the locals. Experience the city as it was before the war. Chinatown was established as early as Saigon. Here the Ming Dynasty Chinese first settled in Vietnam. They live their lives much as they did before 1975, doing business and continuing their traditions while the country is developing around them.

You’ll stroll through the Giac Lam wholesale Market and Thien Hau Pagoda, where the impressive incense coils in the interior offer you fantastic photo opportunities. The tour concludes at the Ben Thanh market. Practice your bargaining skills while shopping for souvenirs. You’re free to explore the market, packed with every conceivable commodity, before returning to the cruise terminal.
