Your experience

Highlights

  • Explore the historic center of Ho Chi Minh City
  • Visit Chinatown and be inspired by the flair and colourful markets
  • Relax and enjoy a private shore excursion, where everything is perfectly organised for you

Description

Your private shore excursion starts at the port of Phu My or Lotus, where you will be picked up. After a two-hour drive you will reach Ho Chi Minh City. On the way you experience the comfort of an air-conditioned private vehicle. The day tour starts with a detour to the cathedral Notre Dame. The church was built between 1877 and 1883 and is considered a legacy of the French colonial period. It is particularly remarkable that all building materials were imported from faraway France.

Next, visit the main post office in Saigon, designed by the famous Gustav Eiffel. They admire the extravagant design of the Saigon Opera House as well as the typical colonial style of the Town Hall. The tour continues to one of the historically most important buildings in the city. Visit the Reunification Palace, where the Vietnam War officially ended on April 30, 1975.

After a lunch at a regional restaurant, you will drive to District 5, Ho Chi Minh City's historic Chinatown is called Cho Lon, which literally means big market. Experience the city as it was before the Vietnam War. Chinatown's been around as long as the city itself.

You will stroll over the Giac Lam wholesale market and the Thien Hau Pagoda, where countless unique photo motifs of stalls and locals are waiting for you. The tour is rounded off by a visit to the Ben-Thanh market. Practice your negotiating skills in the search for souvenirs. You can explore the market, where seemingly every imaginable commodity can be bought, at your leisure before you are taken back to the harbour
