We have bought the Roma passport for 72 hours in advance online. We picked him up at Termini station. With our pre-booked entrance to the Colosseum at a fixed time (costs another 2 Euro per person -- also online) the Roma Pass should be activated, which worked out wonderfully. However: Many crooks, who on their way to the ticket counter look like public stewards, try to convince the tourists that because of the huge queue, even with a reservation at a fixed time, the entrance still takes 3-4 hours and it is better to take a guided tour (for 35 Euro per person) to get past the queues. Once you arrive at the ticket counter, you realize that this is all a lie, because you can walk past the queues with a Roma passport and a reservation. There should be some clues here so that the naive tourist does not fall for the scam. Otherwise, the Roma passport works really easy and as advertised. It is best to reserve online, pick up on site and activate with the first entry. You can also use the public transport without any problems. Very useful in any case.

The Roma Pass 72 hours actually saved us the long queues at the Colosseum and the Castel Sant'Angelo. That was awesome! Tip: Reserve tickets for Colosseum online!!! The info point for picking up the passport at the airport was not easy to find! Moreover, not even airport staff knew where the Info Point was! If you read Roma Pass at any counter, they just wanted to sell it. Even they couldn't help us! This can be better described or signposted on the spot. According to the description opposite a cafe...only this cafe does not exist anymore...

We (couple approx. 30 years old) got along ... the passport was picked up directly at the airport (arrival terminal) and activated ..

The queue never lasted more than 5 minutes... Travel period end of November 2019 ..

Rome was explored on foot because the weather was so nice ... but still nice to know that we could also go by bus

Would we therefore recommend :) :) :)

great

We were very satisfied with the product. However, the designation 48 or 72 hours is quite misleading, as it is not clear that the passport is only valid for 3 calendar days. Anyway, that's how we understood it. To get to this time you would have to use the pass from 0 o'clock on the first day to 24 o'clock on the last day. The information on the Internet is not clear.

How to visit the Colosseum:

If you wish to use the Colosseum under the Roma Pass, you have the choice from 1 March 2019:

1st option: on the day you wish to visit the Colosseum, go to the "Biglietteria Foro Romano" very close to the Colosseum (between the Roman Forum and the street "Via dei Fori Imperiali"). There you will receive a ticket for the Colosseum with your Roma Pass. The time is usually not selectable, but is assigned. We recommend that you arrive as early as possible in the morning, as tickets for each day are very limited.

2nd option: alternatively, you can reserve a fixed time for your visit to the Colosseum on the English and Italian language site of the organizers (plus a €2 reservation fee by credit card, online or by telephone directly at the Colosseum). You can make this reservation before or after you book the Roma Pass:

Detailed information on online availability and the possibility of reserving your entrance time online can be found in this booking form Anleitungfor the Colosseum visit. If there are no more availabilities online for a reservation at your desired time, you will find in the document alternative possibilities to book a tour (at extra cost) to the Colosseum at your desired time. Alternatively, we recommend the procedure described in point 1 to get to the Colosseum.

For most of our customers we recommend to proceed as described in point 1. In this case, there is no desired time to visit the Colosseum, but you can avoid the somewhat complicated online reservation process.

Tip: The Galleria Borghese ticket is no longer included in the Roma Pass from 15 June 2019. The best chances to book one of the tickets, which are often booked out weeks in advance, at certain times, are right here:

Ticket Buy Galleria Borghese

Included in the price

  • Discounts and reductions on many other exhibitions, excavations and museums

  • Reservation fee Colosseum, Forum Romanum, Palatine (2€)
