Upon arrival in Agra you will meet your guide who will accompany you throughout the day and set off to explore the Taj Mahal, one of the most extravagant proofs of love ever built. See for yourself how breathtaking the majestic palace looks in the light of the sunrise before you set off on a tour of the surrounding area with your guide. Your guide will share his insider knowledge with you and explain the history of the Taj Mahal. In the 17th Emperor Shah Jahan had the Taj Mahal built as a monument to his beloved wife Mumtaz. The mausoleum, built of white marble on the banks of the Yamuna River, is the ultimate model for love on earth. Learn more from your professional guide about the intricacies of this classic monument, which involved masons, stonemasons, inlayers, carvers, painters, calligraphers and dome builders from every corner of India, Central Asia and Iran
Travel on your tour to the enchanting Agra, the central place of the Mughal Empire's government. The fort made of solid red stone was constructed by the emperor Akbar in the 15th century. Shah Jahan transformed the fort into a palace and later it served as his prison for eight years after his son Aurangzeb seized power. Learn about the intriguing history of the Mughal Empire as your expert guide unfolds centuries-old legends and myths for you
Your next stop is at the grave of Itmad-Ud-Daulah, also called "Baby Taj". Learn about the significance of this monument and why it is believed to be a design after the Taj Mahal.

Visit craft workshops, bazaars and shops. Meet local artists and browse local specialities such as inlaid marble, embroidered carpets, jewellery and leather goods. Agra is known for its fantastic craftsmanship and inlaid work in soft stone. The Mughal Empire was a great pioneer of arts and crafts. Empress Nur Jahan had a personal interest in art and practiced art herself in the form of Zari embroidery. Agras main products of handicraft were, besides inlaid work, leather goods, brass, carpets, jewellery and embroidery.

At the end of your tour you will visit Methab Bagh and enjoy the breathtaking view of the backside of the Taj Mahal, whose image is reflected on the mighty river Yamuna. Also known as the "Moonlight Garden", Methab Bagh is said to have been designed by Shah Jahan to meet Taj on moonlit nights far away from the annoying crowd. The garden complex is located on the left bank of the Yamuna, opposite the Taj Mahal. It consists of a large rectangular area and is aligned straight with the Taj Mahal. The forest plantations and farmland form a green forecourt to the Taj Mahal and its reflection in the Yamuna.
