Your experience

Description

The famous Rembrandt House dates back to a time when master painter Rembrandt van Rijn had the country's largest painting studio until he lost everything to bankruptcy. Today, this original place has been transformed into a museum where you'll experience sketches and etchings created by one of the greatest artists ever at the place he made them. The house has been redecorated with objects and furniture from this time, so that you'll have the chance to dip deeper into the 17th century.

From 1639 to 1658 Rembrandt himself lived and worked in the beautiful building. Today, the Rembrandt House hosts a virtually complete collection of Rembrandt’s etchings. You'll admire a selection of this collection that is permanently presented in the exhibition's gallery.

Additionally, you'll stroll through the changing temporary exhibitions that will give you an impression of the works of his predecessors and contemporaries. There is also a fascination collection of Rembrandt’s possessions, including outstanding pieces like military helmets, weaponry and Roman busts. In contrast, the museums modern wing will present you current works of art.
