  • Look for mysterious sculptures carved into rocks
  • Have a delicious barbecue in the forest

Description

Escape the hustle and bustle of Melbourne and take a trip to Dandenong Ranges National Park. With Doongalla Forest and the impressive Mount Dandenong, the national park is one of the most scenic attractions of the region. After a comforable pick up from your accommodation, you will drive through the narrow mountain road and enjoy the beautiful landscape with charming towns set in the mountains.

The nature reserve is famous for its Mountain Ash Trees and lush fern gullies. Discover the exotic and native flora and fauna. During you walk through the forest you can watch out for local wildlife including rabbits, kangaroos, wombats, and colourful native birds. Perhaps you will also witness some lyrebirds wandering across your way. Enjoy a delicious outdoor barbecue with some wine.

After lunch, you will head to William Ricketts Sanctuary, one of Dandenong's most iconic experiences. William Rickett created the sanctuary as a place for quiet reflection. Within the sanctuary you will find over 90 different sculptures carved into rocks and tree trunks. Gaze at the mystical sculptures depicting aboriginal people. Depending on the time, you will also have the chance to wander around a local town in the mountain by sunset. Return back to Melbourne by evening.
