Your experience

Highlights

  • Be enchanted by this palace of modern art with a world-leading collection and regular exhibitions of important international artists
  • The building, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright, is itself a work of art, with a spiral-shaped interior ramp, allegedly inspired by the concave lines of a shell
  • The Guggenheim's permanent exhibition features works by Cézanne, Picasso, Kandinsky, Monet and other masterpieces of Impressionism, Post-Impressionism and French Modernism

Description

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum (usually abbreviated as "The Guggenheim") requires little introduction. Frank Lloyd Wright's futuristic beehive is an architectural landmark. The interior houses a world-famous collection of modern art celebrating the 20th century and beyond.

The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, designed in 1943 by master architect Frank Lloyd Wright, opened in 1959 and changed the world of modern art. Its design is still as modern as it was in the 1950s, with its graceful spiral ramp that gently extends into the spectacular domed glass ceiling.

Frequently updated exhibitions show a broad spectrum of works by exciting young artists and cultural heavyweights. With free guided tours, downloadable audio guides and interactive augmented reality mobile apps, it's a contemporary experience - a must for art and architecture lovers and those who want to relive the beginning of Men in Black.

Danh Vo: Take my breath away (February 9 - May 9)
Danish conceptual artist Danh Vo has always transcended the boundaries of his medium, mixing performance art with photography, sculpture and painting to challenge the power structures and cultural forces that shape our world. From large-scale installations to intimate works on paper, this retrospective encompasses an infinitely inventive work by a pioneering artist.
