Paris is a city with a lot of history and even more attractions. So if you want to see the best of it all in one day, it helps to go with an experienced guide who will take care of the logistics and tell you the history of the city, including the characters, facts, myths, lore and make the experience unforgettable

The day starts at the foot of the Montmartre Hill, from where you will meet your guide and your small group of maximum 15 people before taking the funicular to the Basilica Sacré-Cœur. After enjoying the breathtaking views of the city, your guide will lead you through the winding streets of Montmartre, stopping at the neighboring vineyards, the Place du Tertre artists' meeting place and a reconstructed windmill, much like those made famous by the Moulin Rouge cabaret club (and film).

Next, take the metro - the best mode of transport in Paris - for a short detour to Île de la Cité, the oldest part of Paris. As you explore the winding streets and enter the world famous Notre Dame Cathedral, you'll learn how Paris went from being a Roman outpost to the crown jewel of Europe

From Île de la Cité, it is only a short walk to the Louvre, where you will have an hour's lunch break (with recommendations from your guide) before diving into the largest art museum in the world to see some of the most fascinating works of art. The highlight is of course da Vinci's Mona Lisa. Your guide will help you understand why the painting is so important and how it has maintained its reputation as one of the greatest works of art in the world after all these years

After another short subway ride, you will stare at the Eiffel Tower from the best viewpoint at Trocadéro Plaza and learn about the incredible history of its creation. When you arrive at the station, walk past the queue and go straight up to the second floor, from where you have a great view of Paris

At the Tower your guide will depart, but as a farewell gift he will leave you a ticket for a one-hour river cruise, which you can use immediately (we recommend it as it is almost sunset) or save for the next day. This boat tour, which runs from west to east and back again, passes monuments such as the Musée d'Orsay, the Louvre and Notre Dame, giving you a new vantage point on the squares you have seen in the past, as well as many beautiful bridges, including the Pont Neuf

And that's it. In just one day, you have seen Paris on foot and by water, skipping every queue to see the most popular attractions and a few restaurants.

Please note

Additional information

Unfortunately we cannot accommodate guests with reduced mobility, wheelchairs or prams on this tour.

As with all museums and monuments, individual galleries of the Louvre Museum may be closed without notice, or pieces may be removed for restoration or loan purposes. In addition, the Eiffel Tower may close unexpectedly due to strikes or unforeseen events. In this case your guide will change the itinerary and take you to the Montparnasse Tower. From the roof of this central skyscraper you have a panoramic view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower. The tour ends here. From there, your guide will give you a metro ticket to the Eiffel Tower if you wish to admire it from the ground and/or reach the cruise departure point.

To ensure the safety of visitors, the French authorities enforce security measures when entering the Louvre Museum, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Eiffel Tower. Only bags smaller than 55 cm x 35 cm x 20 cm will be accepted

The cathedral of Notre Dame is a place of worship and requires appropriate clothing for the visit; both men and women must wear clothes that cover the shoulders and knees.

Notre Dame Cathedral restricts access to some parts of the church during mass.

Your tour ends on the second floor of the Eiffel Tower. If you would like to go up to the third floor after the tour, you can buy a ticket for the third floor at the main ticket office on the ground floor.

At the end of the tour your guide will provide you with tickets for a cruise. The cruise is not guided, but an audio guide is included in the price. You can use the open ticket for the cruise directly after visiting the Eiffel Tower, later in the evening or on another day.

Please ensure that all members of your party have a valid ID on them on the day of the visit. This is particularly important for guests who have qualified for child reduction.
