Your experience

Highlights

  • The largest collection of Gustav Klimt paintings in the world, including The Kiss and Judith I
  • Terraces and ornamental gardens with fountains, mythological sculptures, all designed by the 18th century French landscape architect Dominique Girard
  • Two beautiful baroque castles (Upper and Lower Belvedere) full of art and opulence, as well as further exhibitions in the Orangery and the Castle Stables

Description

Lush landscaped gardens with spectacular buildings containing breathtaking artistic masterpieces; the Belvedere is a Russian nesting doll of inestimable beauty. With works such as Gustav Klimt's The Kiss, frescoed ceilings and well-tended gardens littered with sculptures, there is every reason to visit the Belvedere. See art, landscape design and beautiful architecture from the time when the Habsburgs made Vienna the centre of Europe.

The two Belvedere palaces (because sometimes one palace is just not enough) are full of art and spectacular beauty.

Upper Belvedere:
Highlights are the collection of masterpieces from the Middle Ages and the Baroque. The art collection of the 19th and 20th centuries includes impressionist works by Monet, Van Gogh and the world's largest collection of the Austrian artist Gustav Klimt (including The Kiss). Don't miss Carlone Hall, named after the artist who created the ceiling fresco.

Lower Belvedere:
The highlight is the spectacular two-storey marble hall with oval plaster medallions representing the god Apollo. The Marble Gallery houses antique and baroque sculptures and in the Grotesque Hall you can see some paintings that are grotesque (in a good way).

Permanent exhibition and special exhibitions. Marble hall, orangery, stables and private garden. Instead of visiting one of the exhibitions, visitors can visit the nearby 21er Haus (Museum of Contemporary Art) - an offer that is only available here!

Upper Belvedere Ticket: Permanent exhibition and marble hall

Lower Belvedere Ticket: Special exhibitions, Orangery, Stables and Chamber Garden, Prince Eugene's private garden.
