Your experience

  • Preferential admission to the Accademia Gallery and visit to Michelangelo's 'David
  • The Uffizi Gallery houses the most impressive Renaissance collection in Italy
  • Between the Accademia and the Uffizi you will pass several other sights

Florence in four hours: Skip th Line David & Uffizi Express Tour. Your tour starts early, near the Accademia Gallery, where you will meet your group of maximum 24 people and your experienced local guide. With one of the first tickets at the Accademia, you go straight in and see Michelangelo's 'David' before most visitors arrive. David is one of the greatest single works of art in the world. As you stand before him, your guide will tell you the story of his creation, as well as the story of its creator, the bubbly genius, Michelangelo Buonarroti. You will also learn what makes the statue great in the eyes of so many people and how it has changed the way we see art and life in general. On the way out, stop at Michelangelo's unfinished 'slaves' to see the signs of his artistic process and learn more about the struggle that consumed much of his life

From the Accademia it is only a 15-minute walk to the Uffizi Gallery, but you will discover many sights during a short stroll through the city. In the first place is the Piazza del Duomo. Stand in the shadow of one of the largest domes in the world and learn how the colossal church below was designed and built by a group of Renaissance geniuses who were as feisty as they were visionary. You will also see the famous baptistery doors of Florence, cast in bronze by Lorenzo Ghiberti and so admired by Michelangelo. Michelangelo called them the "gates of paradise". You will also see Palazzo Vecchio, one of the main palaces of the powerful Medici family, whose money was one of the driving forces behind the Renaissance, and the outdoor sculpture gallery in the Palazzo della Signoria.

Finally, you will visit the Uffizi Gallery, which houses the world's largest collection of Renaissance paintings. It is also one of the most overwhelming collections in the world, often suffocating visitors with art fatigue. Don't worry, our guides have spent years studying the collection and have compiled a selection of the most important, interesting and beautiful paintings in the museum

The works you visit are arranged in chronological order so that your visit becomes a crash course in the development of Western art, including lesser known works by artists such as Duccio and Giotto and true classics by artists such as Michelangelo, Botticelli, Raphael and da Vinci. When you are finished, you will not only have seen an art museum, but also have a better understanding of European art

After the tour ends just before lunch, your guide will be happy to give you some recommendations on where to eat and what to see if you want to continue your search. Florence is a small city full of attractions, so now that you have seen the two biggest, you can concentrate on delving deeper into the history, culture and cuisine of this Italian jewel
