What can you expect? You have arrived in Porto and want to get to know the most important sights as well as the hidden alleys and life in Porto? Then I can offer you a tour that responds to your individual wishes. Discovering Porto together, in a group, is much more fun than alone. Whether you've only been in Porto for a few hours and want to get your bearings or whether you already know the city a little, but want to learn more about the city and its people, this tour offers you 2:45 hours full of tips, history, anecdotes and fun. The city tour is a mixture of visits to the most important sights and corners, where tourists without local knowledge rarely go. The sightseeing is always combined with background information on the history of Porto and Portugal, as well as interesting anecdotes.
Your guide: from beautiful Lower Saxony, late twenties, graduated in history, lives and works in Porto, experienced in guided tours of all kinds.
Part 1[Introductory information, tips for going out and main sights in the upper city centre] We will start the tour at the town hall of Porto at the monument of the poet Almeida-Garret, where first introductory information about the city and the country will be given. We continue through winding alleys, past one of the most beautiful bookshops in Europe, the centre of the university, to one of the best vantage points in Porto, with views of the Baixa and Gaia. This first part is supported by many tips on restaurants, bars and cafés, where they can get typical Portuguese food and drinks (at not overpriced prices) as well as anecdotes about the district and the places.
Part 2[Guided tour of the Baixa, the riverside districts and strolling along the Douro] It goes further down, always towards the river, even off the beaten track. At the river we have time to enjoy this wonderful feeling of being directly at the river, with a view of the port wine cellars on the other side of the river.
Part 3[Almost untouched historical quarter below the cathedral + the cathedral itself + Estação de São Bento] Experience a quarter where tourism has not yet lost its way. The fortified cathedral and the slightly different view of Porto leads us to the end of the tour to the station with walls full of depicted history and ways of life. Let's sweeten the end of the tour with a tasty Pastel de Nata.
This tour can also be flexibly adapted to the individual wishes of the participants. If, for example, the participants want to visit more hidden places and leave out a place of interest, this is no problem and can be flexibly rescheduled by the guide. The tour in this form is a proposal that will be implemented if there are no individual wishes. Questions of any kind are answered, be it about nightlife, history or life in Portugal.
A German speaking guide is guaranteed!
An individually designed tour is also possible.
