If you are interested in history or a unique Italian experience, our Rome Off-The-Beaten-Path Tour is just the thing for you.
The tour begins in one of the most important but mostly ignored quarters in the history of Rome: the Jewish ghetto. In existence since 1555, this district was an essential part of the development of regional cuisine and Roman culture. It still houses landmarks such as the Teatro Marcello, alias the Jewish Colosseum.
Next we make two short stops at the famous Mouth of Truth and the huge Circus Maximus, the old chariot racing arena. Then we leave the city in search of the most visited road in ancient Rome, the Appia Way or the Via Appia Antica.
You stroll down the original cobblestones as your expert guide tells stories about the thriving empire. From the veneration of Emperor Augustus to the crucifixion of Spartacus, this street plays a central role in many of Rome's greatest events.
Like visitors to ancient Rome, your journey will take you outside the walls past the Aqueduct Park. Here you can admire the huge buildings that once supplied Rome with fresh, running water. You will also see the famous baths of Caracalla, which led the water from the aqueducts into a public bathing area that could accommodate more than 1,600 people at the same time.
Don't get too busy soaking up the whole story, use a few photo opportunities - perhaps the best of the city: the Janiculum Hill which offers the most beautiful views of Rome. A picture here will make all your friends jealous.
Along with Rome's coolest optical illusion and some other secret gems, we want to show you a part of the city that most visitors will never see. With an experienced English speaking guide, a driver chauffeuring you in an air-conditioned, private vehicle and a small group of no more than 15 people, you will really experience the city as an insider.
Gratuities to guides are appreciated but never obligatory.
