Your experience

  • Vatican Museums at night
  • Sistine Chapel at night
  • Small group of maximum 15 people

Experience the Vatican at night! This is the time when the Vatican palaces are more peaceful, quieter and more beautiful than at the usual visiting times.

We start at the Vatican Museums, a part of the Pontifical Palaces. In elaborate halls and galleries, your Vatican expert brings the fascinating history of the Church to life - from the martyrdom of St. Peter to the modern Vatican City. Since your group is limited to 15 people, you will have enough time to ask all your questions.

You will also discover some of the most beautiful ancient sculptures and Renaissance works of art in the world, including the School of Raphael in Athens, the Hellenistic Laocoön and the beautiful Apollo Belvedere.

The highlight of your experience is of course the Sistine Chapel, the private chapel of the Pope. In the evening light - and without the tourist hordes - you get a feeling for the intimate atmosphere that the Pope himself would have enjoyed here. As you admire Michelangelo's famous frescoes, your Vatican expert reveals their stories, secrets and what makes them so special.

Please note

Additional information

Tips for guides are welcome, but never obligatory.
Please note that the meeting time is 15 minutes before the start time. There is no refund or rebooking for late arrival or non-appearance after the start of the tour.
As with all museums, some galleries of the Vatican Museums may sometimes be closed or partly closed for restoration without prior notice. If one gallery is closed, your guide will take you to another part of the museums.
Please also remember that the Sistine Chapel is a sacred place and your clothes must be appropriate for the visit. Both men and women are asked to wear clothes that cover at least their shoulders and knees. Walks of Italy cannot be held responsible for refused entry due to inappropriate clothing.
Since the chapel is planned for the end of the Vatican visit, it is sufficient to bring additional clothes and put them on in front of the entrance into the sacred rooms.
Please note that the Basilica of St. Peter is closed at the time of the visit and can therefore neither be visited from the Sistine Chapel nor during other visits.
Although the Vatican Museums are equipped with lifts for wheelchair users and prams, they only offer access to certain areas of the museums. For this reason, we cannot accommodate wheelchairs on our group trips in the Vatican.
Please note that guests are only allowed to carry small handbags in the Vatican Museums. Larger backpacks and big point umbrellas etc. must be left at the cloakroom. It is the guest's responsibility to return to the entrance of the Vatican Museum in order to pick it up after the end of the tour.
Please ensure that all members of your party have a valid ID on them on the day of the visit. This is particularly important for guests who have qualified for child reduction.
