This Vatican Highlights Tour will show you how to get the most out of the Vatican Museums and an insight into its art, power and politics.
Skip-the-line tickets for a relaxed visit
Start your tour by skipping the line in front of the museum in order to dive directly into the galleries of some of the world's most famous works of art. Your English speaking guide will give you insights and great stories as you explore the Raphael Rooms, the Belvedere Farm with Apollo Belvedere and Laocoön and Sons, the Court of the Pine Cone, the Gallery of the Candelabra, the Map Gallery and the Gallery of Tapestries.
Shortly before closing time you drive to the Sistine Chapel. Before entering, your guide explains the stories behind these iconic frescoes and what they mean. After entering the building you can enjoy the whole majesty of the room and discover the small details and peculiarities that most visitors miss on your own.
Spend about 20 minutes admiring the chapel on your own. Your guide will then lead you out of the chapel through a special door and take you directly to the Basilica of St. Peter for an independent visit.
While many tour operators include 25 or more people in their Vatican trips, we will never bring you together with a group of more than 20 people. We have a passion for the Vatican and want to share this passion with you in small groups led by the most dedicated and experienced Vatican guides.
Tips for guides are welcome, but never obligatory.
Please note that the meeting time is 15 minutes before the departure time. No refunds or rebooking in case of late arrival or non-appearance after the start or departure of the tour.
As with all museums, some galleries of the Vatican Museums may sometimes be closed without prior notice and parts may be removed for restoration or lending. If a gallery is closed, your guide will take you to another part of the museums instead.
Please also remember that the Sistine Chapel is a sacred place and the clothes must be appropriate for the visit. Both men and women are asked to wear clothes that cover at least their shoulders and knees. Walks of Italy cannot be held responsible for refused access because of inappropriate clothing. Since the chapel is at the end of the Vatican visit, it is okay to bring additional blankets and put them on before entering the sacred place.
In rare cases, when St. Peter's Church is prepared for special masses or private events, including Easter celebrations, the exit and/or the basilica itself can be closed without prior notice. Your guide will, nevertheless, give you an introduction to the church if you would like to visit it yourself at a later date. We cannot give refunds or discounts.
Although the Vatican Museums are equipped with lifts for wheelchair users and prams, they are not on the group tour and only offer access to certain areas of the museums. For this reason, we cannot accommodate wheelchairs on our group trips in the Vatican.
Please note that guests are only allowed to carry small handbags in the Vatican Museums. Larger backpacks and big pointy umbrellas etc. must be left at the cloakroom. It is the guest's responsibility to return to the entrance of the Vatican Museum to pick it up after the guided tour.
Please ensure that all members of your party have a valid ID on them on the day of the visit. This is particularly important for guests who have qualified for child reduction.
