Description

Art is intimidating and few art museums are more impressive than Italy's greatest masterpiece: Florence's Uffizi Gallery. Our Uffizi tour is tailor-made to allow you to explore and discover the breathtaking, historical world of Renaissance art. Whether you are an experienced art lover or an amateur, it makes no difference

The tour, like that of the museum, is chronological, so that after passing the (always long) queues, your experienced English-speaking guide will introduce you to the early Renaissance masterpieces of Cimabue, Duccio and Giotto. Through her paintings, you will learn to distinguish the styles and techniques that triggered a revolution in the visual arts

Classics of the High Renaissance such as Botticelli's "Primavera" and "Birth of Venus" followed. You will see the progress of artistic techniques and enjoy the explosion of colour and perspective. But it's not all art theory. You will learn about the incredible personalities and bitter rivalries of some of the greatest stars of the day, such as Raphael, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci

Finally, see the artistic heritage of the Renaissance in works of later masters such as Titian and Caravaggio. When you have seen what all came before, you can see her pictures in a completely new light!

Your next stop is Palazzo Vechio. For centuries this was the heart of art and government in Florence, so important that both Michelangelo and DaVinci were engaged to paint the walls. Your tour includes the incredibly impressive Council of 500 and an introduction to the turbulent history of Florence. You will hear how and why the Medici family left this majestic fortress by building the Vasari Corridor through the Uffizi Gallery to their new home in Palazzo Pitti

This is more than just a tour, it is a journey through time that will make you appreciate everything that was necessary to bring the visual arts from the dark ages to the modern world

In a private group of 14 people or less, you have unparalleled access to your English-speaking guide. With plenty of time to ask all the questions you don't find in books, you will be perfectly immersed in the fascinating world of art history.
