Your experience

  • See all the sights in Florence on a single, unforgettable day.
  • Skip the queues at the Accademia Gallery to see Michelangelo's David and the unfinished Slaves.
  • Visit the world-famous Florence Cathedral and the Baptistery to take a look at Ghiberti's Golden Paradise Gates and hear the unlikely story of their creation.
  • Experience the most famous sights of Florence, such as Piazza della Repubblica, Piazza della Signoria and Ponte Vecchio.

If you only have one day to visit all the top attractions in Florence. this tour is perfect for you. Accompanied by one of the best guides in town you will see everything that you have to see in Florence.

Start your day with the most famous marble sculpture in history - Michelangelo's incomparable David. You skip the long queues in the Accademia Gallery and see the master class of sculpture directly. You think you know it because you've seen it a thousand times in pictures? Think again: David has secrets that you can only understand if you see him in person and accompanied by one of our experienced English-speaking guides. You will also see Michelangelo's unfinished 'slaves' and will, with the help of your guide, gain new insights into his tortured artistic process.

We continue to another stone structure that changed world history - Florence Duomo. As you admire the tower from the outside and inside (by skipping the insanely long queue), you will hear the story of how its architect Brunelleschi regained lost knowledge and expanded the realm of what was considered humanly possible to build it.

After a short stop at the Baptistery doors to admire the masterpieces of the Ghiberti (Brunelleschi was insanely jealous of them), immerse yourself in the beautiful streets of Florence to learn about the city's rich history. From the sculpture gallery in Piazza della Signoria to the figures carved on the walls of the church of Orsanmichele, the history of Florence will bring a sculpture and a building to life.

After a two-hour lunch break (not included in the price, but your guide will show you the best places to eat) you will meet again at the gates of the Uffizi Gallery, Italy's most popular art museum and one of the largest art collections in the world.

Your route will be chronological, like that of the museum. After skipping the entry lines, your expert will introduce you to the masterpieces of the early Renaissance by Cimabue, Duccio and Giotto. Through their pictures, you will learn to distinguish the styles and techniques that have triggered a revolution in the visual arts.

These are followed by classics of the High Renaissance such as Botticelli's "Primavera" and "Birth of Venus". You will see the progress of artistic techniques and enjoy the explosion of colour and perspective. But it's not all art theory. You will learn about the incredible personalities and bitter rivalries of some of the day's greatest stars such as Raphael, Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci.

Finally, you will see the artistic heritage of the Renaissance in works of later masters such as Titian and Caravaggio. Once you've seen what came before them, you can see their pictures in a whole new light!

This is more than just a tour, it is a journey through time that will make you appreciate everything that was necessary to bring the visual arts from the dark age into the modern world. In a private group of 20 people or less you have unparalleled access to your English-speaking expert. With plenty of time to ask all the questions not found in books, this is the perfect way to immerse yourself in the fascinating world of Renaissance art.
