Marvel at the splendour of Palazzo Pitti in Florence
Enjoy the sight of masterpieces by Raphael, Titian and Rubens
Admire the breathtaking interior of the Galleria Palatina
Don't waste any time and enter Palazzo Pitti and its Renaissance world directly without queuing.
As the only royal palace in Florence, Palazzo Pitti is a must on the city's tourist trail. It is also the largest museum complex in the city of lilies. On an area of 32,000 m2 it is a residence for absolute rulers, from the Grand Duke to the King and Emperor. The Galleria Palatina shows works by artists such as Raphael, Titian, Rubens and others.
Palazzo Pitti has come a long way since it was originally built as the home of the ambitious banker Luca Pitti. Lush accents adorn the breathtaking architecture of this huge Renaissance palace on the banks of the Arno.
In the beautiful royal apartments of the palace, you will find an eclectic mixture of magnificent memorabilia with furniture, paintings and beautiful sculptures. You will also get an incredible feeling of intimacy - decorated with beautiful gilding and stucco, these are the rooms in which the inhabitants actually lived. And with beautiful period furniture such as canopy beds (smaller than you can imagine) you really have the feeling that you belong to the kings.
Galleria Palatina combines four centuries of Tuscan living with Renaissance and Baroque painting. It contains beautiful works of art by Raphael, Titian, Rubens, Pietro da Cortona and many more. In a different flair of the personal, the gallery is neither chronologically nor painterly organized. Instead, the arrangement reflects the tastes of the former inhabitants.
A visit to Palazzo Pitti and Galleria Palatina gives you an impression of the everyday opulence of the noble families who were in charge during the Renaissance. To get the most out of your visit, we recommend that you bring a fur-trimmed velvet robe that you can carry as you stride through the halls.
