Your experience

  • Admire the temple of eternal fire - Ateshgah
  • Visit Gobustan National Park to see the ancient carvings, mud volcanoes and gas rocks in the region
  • Come close to the "burning mountain" Yanar Dag

Discover the most fascinating places of the Absheron Peninsula and Gobustan on a private tour!

The tour starts at 10:00 am. At the beginning you will drive to the mud volcanoes, where you will stay for 30min. Afterwards the journey continues in the direction of the Qobustan Museum.

This is followed by a visit to Gobustan National Park, where you can admire petroglyphs (images created by removing part of a rock surface by scratching, picking, carving or grinding as a form of rock art).

Then enter the Bibi-Heybat Mosque, a historic mosque in Baku. The existing structure, which was built in the 1990s, is a replica of the 13th century mosque of the same name, which today includes the tomb of Ukeyma Khanum (a descendant of Mohammed). Today it is the spiritual center for the Muslims of the region and one of the most important monuments of Islamic architecture in Azerbaijan.

Drive to Ateshgah, where the Fire Temple is located only 30 km from the centre of Baku in the suburb of Surakhany. This area is known for the unique natural phenomenon where natural gas outlets are burned (underground gas that reaches the surface and comes into contact with oxygen and lights up).

Yanar Dagh (Burning Mountain) is a natural gas fire that burns continuously on a hill on the Absheron Peninsula in the Caspian Sea near Baku. Flames radiate from a thin, porous layer of sandstone into the air and have the effect of a radiant sparkle on the mountain surface. The history of Yanar Dag is shrouded in mystery, but a local legend says that a shepherd once accidentally lit a fire there and the hill has been burning ever since.

You end your exciting tour with a trip to the Heydar Aliyev Centre.
