Madrid is full of art, architecture and culture - on this all-day guided tour you will see the highlights from all areas under the guidance of an expert guide.
Your day begins with a visit to the breathtaking Royal Palace Palacio Real, where you will be admitted one hour before the general public. Explore the dreamlike interiors and admire the paintings of Caravaggio, Goya, Velázquez and many more.
From the palace, visit the Barrio de la Morería to learn more about Madrid's Muslim roots. At the Mercado de la Cebada you will get a real crash course in Spanish food culture. At one of the best stalls you will taste wine, olive oil and small dishes and find out why the Spanish custom of tapas is one of the most valuable institutions in the country.
Next, explore the medieval streets in the centre of Madrid. Stop at Plaza Mayor and Puerta del Sol while your guide explains how the city has progressed from an outpost of the crumbling Moorish Empire to the leading Catholic power in Europe. Then head to a roof terrace with breathtaking views over the entire city. From up there your guide will show you important sights and give you recommendations for lunch during the break.
After you have recovered, walk along Madrid's most famous street, the Paseo del Prado, to see the most famous monuments such as Cibeles Palace, the Central Bank and the fountains of Neptune and Apollo.
Your walk will take you to the steps of the Prado Art Museum, which houses one of the most important collections of European art in the world. Enjoy a complete tour of the museum's highlights, including works by Goya, Velazquez, El Greco, Bosch, Tintoretto and many others. This is also where the tour ends, so you can spend more time there if you wish.
