You will meet your guide in the centre of Madrid, from where you will start your one-hour trip to Toledo. As you drive through the beautiful countryside, your guide will bring you closer to the city's history. Stop outside the city at a vantage point for outstanding souvenir photos. See the stunning San Martin Bridge, the most picturesque route to Toledo since the 14th century.
Stroll through the medieval streets, past the San Juan de los Reyes monastery, before embarking on a handcrafted sword production. The city is a steel processing centre around 500 B.C. and is home to real warriors and literary warriors such as the famous Don Quixote. Go behind the scenes to learn more about the centuries-old techniques used to create functional works of art.
Next stop is the Toledo Cathedral, probably the most beautiful Gothic church in Spain and one of the most impressive in Europe. Let your guide guide you through this architectural masterpiece that houses paintings by masters such as El Greco. Then visit the Tower of San Ildefonso, the highest vantage point in Toledo, which offers breathtaking 360-degree views of the city and nearby Alcázar.
After a lunch break you drive into the countryside to admire the famous windmills of La Mancha. These windmills became famous in the 17th century when they were fictitiously attacked by the wandering knight Don Quixote. Enter the only functioning windmill in the area and learn about its literary significance and the function it once had in the city. In a small restaurant in the windmill, taste Manchego cheese with a glass of wine, beer or soft drink before returning to Madrid.
