Description

The Palace of Holyroodhouse dates back to 1128, when it was still an Augustinian abbey. Today it is the home of Her Majesty the Queen, who together with the Duke of Edinburgh welcomes some 8,000 specially invited guests during "Royal Week" from the end of June to the beginning of July.

Tour the Palace and tour the State Apartments with a free audio guide, where you'll learn more about the Palace's former residents, including Bonnie Prince Charlie, before exploring the historic chambers of the Mary Queen of Scots!

Then walk through the fascinating ruins of the abbey church and 12th century gardens and finish your visit at the Café am Schloss, where you can enjoy light refreshments and afternoon tea.

Opening hours: Tuesday and Wednesday 9.30 to 18.00, Thursday-Monday 9.30 to 16.30

Admission is free for children under 5 years, please bring a valid proof of age.

Wheelchair accessible: A lift (108x107cm) is available. Mobility scooters are permitted. Manual wheelchairs and walkers can be borrowed free of charge.
