Our guide awaits you with your e-bikes in the park Mariana Grajales (in the months from April to September at 19:00 o'clock and in the months from October to March at 18:00 o'clock). It is named after the mother of General Antonio Maceo (1845-96), a hero of the revolution. After a short introduction to the bikes, the adjustment to the individual body size, the information about the state of the Cuban roads, followed by information about the rules in the Cuban city traffic, we start with the e-bikes in the direction of Bahia de La Habana.
Means of transport in Cuba are usually different from what you are used to, which you will quickly notice. The route with our e-bikes leads us in the dusk over the water on the partly forgotten side of the pulsating metropolis La Habana into the center of the Santeria and the former slave trade. This eastern part of the Bahia de La Habana has preserved most of its charm of originality and is hardly frequented by tourists because many do not even know how to reach this part of Habana. Be prepared for an adventure on rather unusual routes.
This route will give you an impression of the authentic Cuban way of life. You will learn how the metropolis protected itself from attacks from outside in the past. On the other side of the fascinating metropolis La Habana, much of its history has been preserved. Stops at some of the most famous and also less known highlights are of course an integral part of this extraordinary route. The view of Havana with its sea of lights will fascinate you. The city in a different garb often does not seem to be the same as during the day.
We start towards La Rampa and drive along the former Hilton, which shortly after the revolution got the name Habana Libre and the Hotel Nacional, where the Mafia was mostly at home. Along the Malecon, which, as many say, is the most beautiful promenade in the world, we head for the ferry terminal of La Habana. There we take a Lanchita, as the Cubans affectionately call their harbour ferries, which is almost only used by Cubans. It takes us to the other side of Bahia. Then we visit the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Regla, if it is still open.
The impressions we gather on the way around the Bahia towards El Cristo will remain unforgettable. El Cristo is waiting for us, a view of La Habana that is second to none. We have the opportunity to see the Comandancia del Che with its original furniture, which can only be seen from the outside at this time of day. Then we go to the Fortaleza de San Carlos de la Cabaña and the Castillo de los Tres Reyes del Morro. In Casablanca we take the Lancha towards La Habana.
Back in the metropolis we will have a small refreshment and some finger food. After that we will have a short excursion through the metropolis, which appears completely different under moonlight, while we head back to our starting point.
