Your experience

  • Get to know Cuban artists and the everyday life of the locals
  • Visit the charming fishing village of Baracoa and taste seafood in a select restaurant
  • Cycle along the beach promenade in Santa Fé

Today we will embark on a journey by e-bike from the vibrant metropolis to the countryside along the west coast. This part of Havana is beyond the classical tourist routes and therefore very original and charming.
The route brings us into direct contact with the Cuban culture of life as it exists even in the deepest inland. Close to the fascinating metropolis of La Habana, the world seems to have stopped for us in its own way. Hardly any traffic, bicitaxis, horse-drawn carriages, pedestrians and cyclists, these are outside the methods of transport. Stops with some of Cuba's most famous artists on their way to the fishing villages of the West form the grotesque contrast of this tour.
Our tour guide is waiting for us with the e-bikes at 09:00 am in the Parque Mariana Grajales named after the mother of General Antonio Maceo 1845-96, a hero of the revolution (alternatively, for closed groups, an individual meeting point can be arranged with us). After a short introduction to the bikes, the adjustment to the individual body size, the education about the condition of the Cuban roads, followed by information about the rules in Cuban city traffic, we start our discovery tour with the e-bikes. Means of transport in Cuba are usually different from what we are used to, you will soon notice this. Our first destination is the Museum of Kcho and its social projects together with Google, then we pass the Palacio de Convenciones towards the embassy district, where many national and international congresses and political events take place. This extremely impressive contrast to the classic Cuban living conditions and what we will encounter on the tour will keep us busy. We move towards Jaimanitas along Club Havana and visit Fusterlandia, one of Cuba's most famous artists, who is strongly inspired by Gaudi and the Santeria in his work. Now we continue through Jaimanitas towards Marina Hemingway. The largest yacht complex in Cuba, named in honour of Ernest Hemingway. The last internet reception for the next hours to post the first impressions. For the next few hours we are allowed to say goodbye to the internet and we move over the Carretera Panamericana with our electric wire jacks towards Santa Fé. Small beaches and original living conditions along the beach promenade in Santa Fé are lasting experiences. On the way to Baracoa we pass the Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina, where practically all doctors of the country are trained, some of whom later on also carry out their service for Cuba in other countries of our world. The fishing village of Baracoa has an incredible charm and, fortunately for us, is practically undiscovered by tourists. Thursdays-Sundays we head for our fish restaurant which is hard to beat in its location and cuisine. There is also the possibility to take a bath. From Monday to Wednesday we will have lunch and take a break on an eco-finca, including a short guided tour of the finca. Afterwards we start the return journey with the collected impressions. The Bar Hemingway in the Marina Hemingway, for a stopover and a short recovery of the buttock strains, is our last stopover on this day
