Description

Michel, as the locals affectionately call Hamburg's most famous church, is one of the city's sights. Count the impressive organs, climb the tower and enjoy a great view of the city from the viewing platform.

St. Michaelis Church has its stories. If walls could speak, this special member of Hamburg's Lutheran church family would speak of lightning strikes, unfortunate fires and the horrors of the Second World War. All this means that parts of it had to be rebuilt twice, but this has made this beautiful building a real survivor!

Take a walk through one of the most impressive churches in Northern Germany and count not one, not two, but five organs! The heart of the church is a 20-meter high altar, which has certainly heard its share of prayers over the years.

Look at the impressive copper roof and climb the tower to see the largest German bell. From the viewing platform at 106 metres above sea level, you also get an inspiring view of the city and the harbour.
