The tour starts at our office. First, visit Plaza San Martin at the end of Avenida Florida, where you take the subway to the obelisk, the landmark of Buenos Aires, and walk along busy Avenida 9 de Julio, the widest avenue in the world. Historic buildings, monuments and streets are evidence of the changes the city has undergone since its foundation.
At Plaza de Mayo, the main square of Buenos Aires and the political heartland of Argentina, visit the Catedral Metropolitana and observe the Cabildo, the Colonial City Hall and the Casa Rosada, the pink presidency. On one side of the Plaza de Mayo, take Avenida Defensa down to the heart of the San Telmo district.
San Telmo is one of the oldest districts of Buenos Aires and has a vibrant tango and art scene. The antique markets, candle street lighting (known as Faroles), cobblestones, old buildings with original facades and decorations add to the unique atmosphere. Sundays are particularly active as the main street market around Plaza Dorrego comes to life. Here you have free time for lunch (optional).
Take the bus to the La Boca district, famous for the Boca Juniors Stadium and the colourful Caminito street. Let yourself be enchanted by the dancing and singing of the tango and learn how tango, football and various immigration influences have made Buenos Aires one of the most irresistible cities in the world.
Then enjoy the view of the modern skyscrapers of Puerto Madero and the Women's Bridge from the bus that takes you to the elegant Recoleta district, famous for its impressive cemetery complex. You will find beautiful architecture, many museums, chic cafes and restaurants, exclusive avenues and shopping centres. The tour ends with a visit to the Recoleta cemetery.
