The history of its first residents begins on a nice viewpoint over the city and the castle hill, where the city was born. From here we walk through the roads of Bairro Alto, the upper quarter until we reach São Roque Church. The walk continues through the Chiado area where we can enjoy the view over the city center from the Santa Justa Lift and admire the ruins of the Carmo Church.
Through the glamorous Chiado quarter, we will pass the oldest bookstore in the world and reach the Baixa Pombalina, the downtown area. Here we will see Rossio and Figueira squares, the Augusta street, the São Domingos church, and some old traditional shops. At Martim Moniz we will experience the mix of cultures and have a glance over the Mouraria quarter, the birthplace of Fado music.
Using a modern elevator we will get to a new and interesting viewpoint over the city, the 25th of April bridge and the Christ statue. Then we continue exploring the castle hill until we reach two more beautiful viewpoints over Alfama, the Tejo river and the south bank.
Through the narrow roads of Alfama, the oldest area of Lisbon, we will experience the traditional Portuguese living, reaching the famous Cathedral - Sé de Lisboa. Our tour will end at Praça do Comércio, the entrance gate to the city.
