Description

Meeting point is the arrival and departure hall of the Ayutthaya station From there you walk to the river and then cross it by the local ferry.

We start with Wat Mahathat, one of the most important temples of Ayutthaya. It was the seat of the Supreme Patriarch of Buddhism and thus the center of Buddhism in the Ayutthaya Kingdom. When the Burmese invaded Ayutthaya in 1767 and destroyed Ayutthaya largely, Wat Mahathat was set on fire. One of the most photographed objects of the temple is the Buddha head, which is entwined in the tree roots.

Furthermore you discover the prominent three Chedien of Wat Phra Si Sanphet. They are one of the most famous sights of the old capital. It was the holiest temple on the site of the old royal palace until the city was completely destroyed by the Burmese in 1767.

Besides, the famous temple is next to Wat Phra Si Sanphet. His large bronze Buddha image or Phra Mongkhon Bophit is one of the largest bronze Buddha images in Thailand.

You will discover these different places and many more on this unique journey. After the tour you will be taken back to your hotel on Ayutthaya Island or back to the train station.
