Your experience

Description

When you arrive in Stockholm on your Baltic Cruise, you have already travelled through the archipelago and seen many of the 30.000 islands. Stockholm is right in the middle of this archipelago.

The city is now spread on 14 islands and is often referred to as “Venice of the North” or “Beauty on Water”. It is known for its clean and open water, its beautiful buildings and interesting architecture. So, apart from history, there is a lot to discover.

Starting from your cruise ship, we’ll use public transport – bus, underground, tram – to get around the city, making stops at interesting places and nice panoramic views. A guided visit to the main attractions as e.g. City Hall, Vasa Museum, Royal Palace, ABBA Museum can also be included – according to your interest and weather conditions.

In the Old Town - Gamla Stan - we’ll find most of the historic buildings and places; Royal Palace, Cathedral, House of Nobility and Stockholm’s oldest street “Köpmangatan”. Stockholm was founded at the beginning of the 13th century.

We’ll stroll through the narrow alleys which are lined with well-kept ancient houses, cozy restaurants, cafés and small souvenir shops, offering much of the well-known Swedish design and handicraft.

A popular event is the daily changing of the Royal Guards – a tradition dating back to King Gustav Vasa, beginning of the 16th century.

According to YOUR plans, the tour either finishes here in the Old Town (with instructions how to get back to your Ship by public transport) or at the Cruise Ship.

Some of the places we'll see or visit inside:
City Hall – impressive building housing the City Parliament and the annual Nobel Prize Banquet
Royal Palace – official residence of the Royal Couple
Parliament Building
Opera House
Royal Theatre
Recreation island Djurgården with Vasa Museum, ABBA-Museum, Skansen
