Description

On this tour you will get an insight into the different religions and architecture of Yangon.

First you visit the Chinese temple Kheng Hock Keong in Chinatown. This temple was founded in 1861 by the Hokkien community during the reign of Qing Emperor Xianfeng.

After a short transfer to Pansodan Street, we offer you a short walk through the former business district of Yangon. There you will see the most beautiful colonial buildings in Southeast Asia: abandoned administrative buildings from the colonial era that are part of the Yangon City Heritage List, such as the Myanmar Port Authority Building or the old Accountant General's Office. The tour guide will take you further to the jetty where you can experience the busy life directly at the Yangon River.

Afterwards you can enjoy a cup of tea in one of the most popular restaurants in Rangoon, the Rangoon Tea House. Inspired by the traditional tea houses, this place offers not only excellent cuisine but also a variety of local teas to choose from.

To experience the vibrant and fun life in the city centre from a different perspective, get on a local bus and drive to Little India. On arrival you will visit the Hindu temple Shri Kali. It was built in 1971 by Tamil migrants, while the former Burma was part of British India. The temple is also known for its colourful architecture.

During a walk through the city centre, the tour guide shows and explains local stalls where you can buy betel nut, play the lottery or watch sewing salesmen doing their craft. Around noon you take part in an adventurous ride on the famous Ringbahn. Then you will be dropped back off at your hotel.

The tour in principle was ok, but there is room for improvement. We hired a German speaking guide and the language skills were not as good as expected. His German was satisfactory / minus. The tour itself did not meet our expectations. We had been in Yangon before and wanted to see someting else and not the big tourist attractions like the Sule Pagode. Maybe there is not so much more, ut especially the tour with the ring railway was disappointing. We waited almost an hour in the station due to some technical problems (not the guide's fault), but then the train ride itself was only 20 minutes through a relative boring scenery.
