Description

Cavtat is an enchanting small town with a population of around 2,000, although only a few of them still live in the old part of the town. The first name of Cavtat was Epidaurus and from here some inhabitants fled in the direction of the place now known as Dubrovnik.

Together with your guide you will first walk through the beautiful old town of Cavtat. The first stop and an interesting point is the church St. Nikolaus. Between this church and the small Franciscan monastery of St. Mary of the Snows, you can see how the people of this town lived then and how some still do today.

After visiting the monastery with its small church, you will go up a hill to the main cemetery of Cavtat, from where you will have the best views of the city and the promenade, and on the other side you will be able to see Dubrovnik and the whole area called Zupa Dubrovacka.

The cemetery with very old and beautiful tombstones is also known for the mausoleum that was built there in the 19th century and is the grave of an old Cavtat family that used to live here.

After you have learned a little more about Cavtat and taken some great pictures, the next step is to go down the hill to the promenade and finally around the Rat peninsula, directly along the turquoise sea and protected by hundred-year-old trees.
