Description

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Georg Friedrich Händel and Wilhelm von Humboldt are only a few names of the "Germans in Rome".

There were times when the important places and squares of the city were populated by numerous German artists and also German institutes, and not only in the 18th and 19th centuries.

You ask yourself where the name "Borgo" of the beautiful district near St. Peter's, where Papa Ratzinger lived, comes from? Where Charlemagne was crowned and Emperor Otto II was buried? Warriors, kings and popes arrived in droves.

Your tour will begin at the German Cemetery if you have not yet visited it and would like to learn more about it. Past the most important sights of the city, you will also explore the numerous German places of residence and activity in the centre, such as the German church, a German museum and Rome's most beautiful entrance portal.

This and much more awaits you on your "German" tour of Rome. In addition there are all the interesting German-Roman stories of yesterday, today and tomorrow!
