Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, Georg Friedrich Händel and Wilhelm von Humboldt are only a few names of the "Germans in Rome".

There were times when the important places and squares of the city were populated by numerous German artists and also German institutes, and not only in the 18th and 19th centuries.

Where does the name "Borgo" come from of the beautiful district near St. Peter's in which Papa Ratzinger lived? Where were Charlemagne crowned and Emperor Otto II buried? All these interesting questions and many more will be answered on this journey.

Your tour starts at the German Cemetery, as far as you have not visited it yet. Past the most important sights of the city, you will explore the numerous German living and working places in the center, such as the German church, a German museum and the most beautiful entrance portal of Rome.

The Rome of the Germans is very spacious. You should be well on foot, as you will be covering longer distances.
Note: If you have already visited the German Cemetery, there is another meeting point.
