Your experience

Description

The Legion of Honor sounds like a collection of superheroes, but it's not. It is, however, an incomparable collection of works of art. See over 124,000 works of art dating back 4,000 years, from European sculptures and paintings to ancient art from the Mediterranean and the Middle East. His most famous piece is Rodin's The Thinker, but there are many other highlights from Degas, Monet, Rubens and more.

The huge art collection of this neoclassical museum is waiting to inspire you. The surroundings (with a view of the Golden Gate Bridge in Lincoln Park) could hardly be more spectacular. And inside? More than 124,000 works of art! Beauty everywhere you look.

The collection of European decorative arts and sculptures includes The Thinker by Auguste Rodin - the museum's 6-foot bronze emblem created after the model of the poet Dante. Stop by here and think about art and poetry for a while.

Other highlights include French furniture from the 18th century, the Bowles collection of English porcelain, three rooms from the French period and a Fabergé tea table and tea service

Until 26 August 2018 The future of the past: The exhibition Mummies and Medicine has two mummies on an interactive virtual preparation table. So come here and bring your virtual preparation kit.

Your ticket also includes access to the de Young Museum in Golden Gate Park. De Young has an outstanding collection of paintings, sculpture and decorative objects.
