Your experience

Description

Wicklow's Historic Gaol features interactive displays and holographic projections that describe the fascinating and macabre history of this prison. The words "Wicklow Gaol" would once bring fear into the heart of anyone within earshot. It is now the most popular tourist attraction in Wicklow County.

From the rebellion (or uprising) of 1798 to the great famine of the 1840s and the Independence Era (1916-1923) and beyond, Wicklow Gaol has seen more than his fair share of imprisonment. Once it was known for brutality, overcrowding and corruption

Today a museum, a visit here is an exciting journey into Ireland's difficult past. Fortunately, thanks to detailed educational experience, it is now one of Ireland's major tourist attractions. It is also one of the most frequented buildings in the world, so keep your eyes and ears open for spectral shadows and ghostly nebulae.
