Your experience

The rich history of Prague's Jewish quarter is as moving as it is long. Already settled in the 10th century, this place is home to the largest Jewish ghetto in European history. With admission to the most famous monuments, this tour gives visitors a unique insight into the life, trials and traditions of the Jewish people in Prague.

The Jewish ghetto was created when the city ordered its Jewish citizens to move to a demarcated part of the city in the 10th century. In the course of time, the neighborhood continued to grow - and lived with further restrictions. These circumstances have contributed to a unique and fascinating way of life, which is explored on this walk.

Your tour begins in front of the Rudolfinium on Jan-Palach-Platz. One of the highlights is the Old Jewish Cemetery - one of the oldest and largest in the world. You will also learn about the six synagogues that coexist in the neighbourhood. Each of them has a different meaning for the community. The Pinkas Synagogue houses the longest epitaph in the world and records 80,000 Jewish victims of Nazi concentration camps

In contrast to this silent monument, the Spanish synagogue offers breathtaking stained glass windows and oriental details, all bathed in a golden glow.

Your knowledgeable tour guide will provide insights and stories about the customs, successes and failures of the Jewish people in Prague and will make this trip to the Jewish Ghetto an unforgettable experience

TIP: Put on your walking shoes and take an umbrella with you just in case the weather gets bad.
