Description

The Milan Museum of Science and Technology Leonardo da Vinci (Museo Nazionale Scienza e Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci) is located in a 16th century monastery and has a collection of more than 16,000 exhibits - including models based on da Vinci's technical sketches. It is a fascinating place to immerse yourself in the spirit of whiz-genius overachiever da Vinci and learn more about cutting-edge technology.

Leonardo da Vinci was a true Renaissance man (and not only because he was alive during the Italian Renaissance)

His interests ranged from studying nature and anatomy to military and hydraulic engineering. Not only is he a famous painter, but he often invented the parachute, the helicopter and the tank. His observations and ideas are reflected in the thousands of drawings he made during his life and career as a painter and engineer.

And Milan's Leonardo da Vinci National Museum of Science and Technology is a fitting tribute: huge and full of experiments on subjects ranging from energy to communication, its scale seems to reflect the restless spirit of the great man

There are seven different departments, each of which studies and researches in the areas covered by its collection and organises exhibitions and educational activities. Highlights include the New Frontiers Department with its spatial area (including part of the moon rock) and the Conte Biancamano Ocean Liner.

Children especially love the appealing interactivity, but really the whole family will find the time that passes, just as da Vinci hoped his ornithopter would

Come curious and leave yourself engaged and informed (and even more curious). A hot tip: The museum is so attractive that you can easily spend a whole day here - provided you keep your blood sugar high. There is no café, but if you pack lunch and/or snacks, you can avoid eating lunch from a vending machine and watch your child's eyes turn wide with wonder all day long.
