Your experience

Description

Just sit back and relax as a friendly waiter serves you a glass of classic Italian wine and Roman starters. Watch and see the sunset over the Eternal City. The boat departs gently, the music swells, and a magical hour (and a little bit) begins.

Climb aboard this cruise and you will glide through history. On the way from Isola Tiberina, the towering Castel Sant'Angelo awaits you. It was built in ancient times by Emperor Hadrian as a mausoleum for his family. Much later the popes used it as a refuge in times of danger.

This is just one of many impressive buildings along the route from the three eras of Rome - ancient Rome, papal Rome and today's Rome with its hustle and bustle. You pass the Pantheon and the Vatican City. The stories are big and epic, sometimes a bit garish and always fascinating - after all, this is the city that founded one or two civilizations.

Or take a look at the old places and imagine how the locals lived in earlier years. You will pass Piazza Campo dei Fiori, which has housed the same vegetable and fish market since 1869, and Piazza del Popolo, which literally means "square of the people" (although it could be argued that the name actually refers to the poplar that stood next to the original chapel built in 1099).

All this forms the perfect backdrop for what is first and foremost a magical way to spend an evening with friends and loved ones. With wine in your hand you will float under bridges like the Ponte Sisto from the 15th century. The atmosphere and the conversation will go along wonderfully as you nibble on local delicacies like supplì and crocchette.

Three words sum it up: La dolce vita.
