Your experience

Follow your entry into this beautiful art nouveau building full of... well, musical instruments. Just like the name says. The Musical Instrument Museum is the place where you can see and learn old and rare instruments from all over the world. It has four captivating floors and more than 1,000 instruments on display!

This Brussels must-have began with the first director of the Conservatory, François-Joseph Fétis (1784-1871) and his private collection of 172 instruments. Since then, the collection, like the string section of an orchestra, has grown to literally thousands of instruments

See old ones like the Jew's harp, which may date back to the 16th century. Learn the history of keys and keyboards in the Western world, browse classical music from the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance to the end of the 19th century

Further highlights are the harmonica donated by Belgian-American jazz musician Toots Thielemans and not to forget the componium, a 19th century orchestrion that automatically composes an infinite variety of music!
