Your experience

Description

Michelangelo's David is considered the greatest of all Renaissance sculptures and is as iconic as it is priceless. Experience the marble giant up close and personal and explore the treasures at the glorious Accademia Gallery in Florence with an experienced guide.

You will be transported back to Italy in the 16th century and put in the minds of the great creative geniuses of history. Discover the story of David's creation, from a solid slab of coarse marble to a timeless emblem of Florentine freedom.

With a height of an impressive 5.17 metres (that's 17 feet!), David's (mostly) goliath-like proportions were a symbol of the defence of civil liberties in the old Republic of Florence. It is no accident that his icy gaze is fixed on Rome.

Your guide will take you on a journey into the Italian Cultural Revolution that changed the face of Western civilization forever. After seeing Michelangelo's masterpiece in marble, you will see more of his breathtaking works, such as the Prisoners, St. Matthew and the Palestrina Pietà.

You will also encounter some masterful creations of other Renaissance men such as Botticelli, Ghirlandaio and Uccello, and after the tour you can discover more for yourself.
