Description

Want binge-watch shows about epic battles and ruthless kings playing musical chairs with their thrones? Experience the real thing with a stormy tour of Ireland's Old East and be inspired by a friendly Irish tour guide through the misty, historic landscape of the Boyne Valley. Enchanting storytelling brings to life the traditions of the region on the way there.

Let Dublin's bustle blow in the wind and discover Ireland's ancient past in the windswept hills of the Boyne Valley. On the way there, you will visit the Hill of Uisneach, a mystical peak where high kings and druids have gathered to light a huge bonfire that sets off a chain of flaming beacons across the land.

Explore the ancient Loughcrew, a group of megalithic tombs dating back to 3,000 BC! Enter the ancient tombs, sit on the Hag's Chair and make a wish (just don't tell anyone, otherwise the magic won't work!), and stand on the hill to look out over beautiful green landscapes.

No trip to Boyne Valley would be complete without a visit to the magnificent Trim Castle. The largest Norman castle in Ireland will be remarkably familiar to anyone who has seen the Hollywood blockbuster Braveheart. This amazingly well-preserved castle offers a unique window into a battle-scarred chapter of Irish history that few other places can match.

St. Fechin's Church and the surrounding countryside will make the journey a little more magical, as the area is known for its mysterious enchanted landmarks, including a monastery in the moor, water flowing uphill, the tree that won't burn, the water that won't boil, the anchor in a stone and the stone/stone raised by the prayers of St. Fechin.

A visit to the top of old Ireland, the breathtaking hill of Tara, will bring the tour to a breathtaking conclusion. The view from above of a quarter of the Irish landscape makes the climb very worthwhile.
