Your experience

Highlights

  • Explore West Cost National Park and refresh yourself with a swim in the Langebaan lagoon
  • Visit Kwa tthu, where a San leads you through a replica village of the indigenous people of South Africa
  • Enjoy a picturesque view of Cape Town on Bloubergstrand or visit the wineries of Swartland

Description

The west coast of South Africa is overlooked by many tourists as it is a rather barren landscape with the typical fynbos. Most of the year there is a rough and dry climate. Only between August and September the landscape changes, because with the rain of the winter months the flowers show their full flower splendour. Explore this wonderful area and don't miss the richness and diversity of nature.

The San, formerly known as the Bushmen, are the true natives of what is now South Africa. Visit a replica San village, which serves as a backdrop for an introduction to the tribal people's everyday lives.

Explore West Coast National Park, which has a unique bird life of international importance. The park also boasts the picturesque Langebaan Lagoon, with its turquoise waters and fascinating sandy beach.

A sensational discovery was made in 1995. Researchers found the fossil footprints of a woman, called "Eve's Footprints", which she once left in the sand. Today we know that this woman was about 1.40m tall and walked along the beach about 117,000 years ago.

Afterwards the wineries of the Swartland invite you to visit and taste their wines, or you visit the Bloubergstrand, from where you have a really enchanting view of Cape Town.
