The Treblinka extermination camp was built in the middle of the forest, only about 100 kilometres from Warsaw, and was the second largest and most efficient concentration camp in Nazi-occupied Poland.

More than 870,000 Jews were killed there in just over a year. Treblinka was a death factory. The first transport of prisoners from the Warsaw Ghetto arrived in July 1942. Since then, Jews from Poland, France, Austria, Belgium, Germany, Greece, Yugoslavia, Slovakia and the USSR have been deported daily to Treblinka.

As soon as they arrived, the people were murdered in specially constructed gas chambers. In August 1943, an armed prisoner revolt broke out, but only 100 prisoners could think about it. Subsequently, the Nazis gradually dissolved the camp by ploughing around the camp grounds and sowing lupines. After the end of the war, one of the most impressive Holocaust memorials in the world was erected on the camp grounds. Although the Treblinka extermination camp no longer exists for a long time and no infrastructure can be seen on site, the experience of having been there once was unforgettable.

From Warsaw it takes about an hour and a half to Treblinka. So you have about two hours on site to get to know real places and authentic stories and to learn how the plan of the Final Solution of the Jewish Question was implemented. You will also visit the Museum of Combat and Martyrdom in Treblinka.

With a German-speaking guide you will explore the former camp site and the memorial site. Enter the symbolic main gate to the camp and walk along the railway ramp. At the breathtaking Holocaust Memorial you will stop to view and understand its symbolism. You will also hear the story of Janusz Korczak and his children. Every memorial stone in Treblinka is symbolic and you will always have plenty of time to think.
