The trip was very informative and eventful. The guide was very competent. Pick-up at the port worked well, but the return was so late that we had to take a taxi to reach the ship on time. But we can still recommend this trip.

Beautiful tour with a great final drive through the volcanic landscape.

Unfortunately, the description and sketch of the departure point was so irritating that we only reached the bus at the last minute with the help of a taxi The ride itself was great, only the guide was partly hard to understand and economical in his explanations. The punctual delivery to the ship was gratifying

Description

The tour starts with a visit to the picturesque village of Yaiza, on the edge of the Fire Mountains. You can take impressive panoramic photos of the volcanic craters of the Timanfaya Mountains in the background or enjoy a "Café con Leche", famous in Lanzarote.

We continue west to the imposing rocky coast of "Los Hervideros" - also a natural testimony of the great volcanic eruptions of 1730 to 1736 - and the natural spectacle still shows the struggle between fire and water. The mighty waves of the Atlantic Ocean force their way through crevices in the rocks on this stretch of coast, where they are accelerated and then shoot into the air in meter-high fountains. The rock formations here are also impressive because they have created wonderful viewpoints and a small balcony from which this event can be viewed from close up.

Following the coastal road to El Golfo you will reach one of the most fascinating destinations of Lanzarote, the "Charco de los Clicos" or "Lago Verde" - in English "green lake". The lake owes its bright green colour to the Ruppia Maritima algae. The bay of tuff and lava also presents itself with its unusual colours and bizarre shapes as an impressive backdrop for photographers.

Before your group reaches Timanfaya National Park, you will have the opportunity to take a short ride on a dromedary (optional 6€/25min). Here you can let your eyes wander over the sandy expanses of the foothills of the volcanic massif.

After that we will finally go to the "Montanas del Fuego", in English: Fire Mountains. This fascinating landscape was created during the volcanic eruptions between 1730 and 1736, when one hundred volcanoes with over three hundred craters covered the island with lava. Experience impressive geothermal experiments that point to the immense energy that still slumbers here only a few metres below the earth's surface. This is followed by an exciting round trip through the national park. The bus drivers are real artists when it comes to manoeuvring the buses through the narrow streets between the volcanic vents and the surrounding lava landscape.

During the trip you will hear in German the authentic recordings of the parish priest of Yaiza "Lorenzo Curbelo", who documented the volcanic eruptions in the 18th century as an eyewitness. His stories give an impression of how people's lives were determined by this force of nature at that time and what suffering was associated with it.

Afterwards another highlight follows: the wine growing area "La Geria", which is located in the centre of Lanzarote. This is a cultivated landscape of over 5000 square meters, which is characterized by the unique method of dry field cultivation. Thousands of so-called "Zocos" (funnel-shaped constructions in which a single grapevine grows) form this extraordinary landscape.

For this reason, the area was already declared a Gesamtkunstwerk by the "Museum of Modern Art" in New York in the 1960s. You will learn a lot about the tedious work involved in this method of winegrowing and of course a visit to one of the many bodegas is not to be missed, where you can also taste one of the wines.

Between 16.00 and 17.00 hours you will be back at your starting point.
