Your experience

We start our tour at the crafts market where you will find local artists carving their wares and selling them in colorful stalls, offering a wide array of souvenirs and curios.

We continue on to the local Catholic church, a reminder of the impact of the missionaries who arrived to the island in 1864. There, Roman Catholic icons mix with traditional Rapanui symbols blended together in a unique show of religious syncretism.

We will then visit the Father Sebastian Englert Anthropological Museum, which houses a rare female moai, a coral set of statue eyes, several wooden statuettes, and an impressive collection of tools made of stone and bone, among other ancient artefacts.

We continue our tour stopping at Ahu Te Peu home to two impressive religious platforms and the foundations of legendary chief Tu'u Koihu's very large house. If you are feeling adventurous, our tour ends at Ana Ka Kenga, a beautiful cave which overlooks two islets from openings along the cliffside.

Otherwise we can return to the town of Hanga Roa and visit the Tahai ceremonial complex. With three restored platforms, here you can take a look at the only moai statue complete with a headress of red scoria and a pair of inlaid eyes made out of white coral.
